When Typhoon Tino destroyed the houses on either side, Rona’s shoreline home was left standing. She and her husband turned it into a resource center, running a generator so neighbors could charge their phones, call for help and reach their loved ones. “The storm left our home untouched,” she says, “and it became a place to help others.”
